Versatile Sleepwear for the Chronically Naked Sleeper
KK here! I am bringing you awesome news: I am taking a quick, spontaneous trip to Chicago this week! Although it's going to be a ton of fun, I have a slight problem when I travel...I sleep naked. I get way too hot when I wear anything and I tend to get tangled up in clothes usually waking up with it half backwards.
Normally during travel, we have the privacy of staying in a hotel but this time we are staying at a friend's one-bedroom apartment and sleeping in the buff may not be the most prudent idea. In order to do the polite (aka the not fun) thing, I have decided to get some travel pajamas.
However, I am looking for versatile pieces that may be used as clothes to save space in my luggage. I am a serial over-packer. Each pick has a note that gives you a quick tip on how to style it for wearing out and about for those who are flexible and brave. I categorized my picks below by the type of persona you may be. Be sure to click through the pictures on the left for the original sources.
Agent Provocateur Classic Long Dressing Gown Ivory
Keep them swooning in this dreamy, Old-Hollywood dressing gown if you can get over that price tag ($675)! Wear it untied, add underneath a turtleneck, jeans, and tennis shoes for a duster coat look.
Victoria Secret “The Afterhours” Satin Pajama
Satin, pink, fun. What’s not to like? These would probably stay strictly PJs but you could style the top much like the above mentioned pajama shirt look or dress up your fave slouchy sweater like the lady on the left.
The No Fuss
Victoria Secret Open Back Two Piece
Peek-a-boo! I love the open back detail on this otherwise understated two piece. It would be easy to use these as workout gear.
H&M Viscose Nightshirt
Time to take from the boys! Just throw it on and hop into bed. Tuck into jeans for a casual look or tuck into a black skirt for easy work wear.
Missguided Speckle Loungewear Onesie
I love that you could sleep in this AND walk outside to get the paper. It’s a one-piece that is sure to pull double duty layered under a cool trench like Mary at Happily Grey on the left.
Ted Baker Ethereal Posey Kimono & Chemise
I love a good kimono! This pretty little thing also has a matching cami, long sleeve, shorts, leggings and trousers if a nightgown is not your style. The kimono is totally suitable for putting on over a black cami and black jeans to create an easy Girls Night outfit or pair with trouser for a day out shopping. Then fall right into bed afterwards!
Anthropologie Semillon Ruffled Jumper
I am loving these jumpers and onesies because I could totally see myself throwing on a cardigan and going to brunch. This soft, lightweight, champagne jumper would be great for summertime. Add a sun hat and espadrilles and you are ready for the day!
Bluebella Isabella Cami & Short Pyjama Set
Hot mama! Again may not be the most appropriate as house guest sleepwear but throw on a structured motorcycle jacket and you have a sensual date night outfit.
The Snow Bunny (Cold Weather)
Anthropologie Terry Off-The-Shoulder Top & Terry Sleep Shorts
Entire PJs that are made of the same material as your favorite robe? Yes! Yes! Yes! Take the top and wear it on top of jeans while you sit by the fire to enjoy hot cocoa with friends. Inside.
So many options! I have yet to decide what I will get for my travels, I hope that I have inspired you to mix up your pajamas. If you want me to do a follow up post on my PJs (once I make the choice) and my sleep routine, comment below! If you have any PJ recommendations, also comment below. I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Catch you (and some ZZZs) later,
