Out of Office: Glamping in Oregon Wine Country + Happy Birthday TY!
KK here, and I am happy to announce that today is TY's official birthday! However, she and I took a very lovely little weekend trip to Oregon Wine country and stayed at the super magical, The Vintages Trailer Resort. Here they have about 30 different vintage trailers for you to stay in and experience that glam ass trailer life! TY has always wanted to go, and I had never heard of it before, so voila! My birthday present to her was a night at the Vintages topped off with wine tours!
We stayed in a 1957 Sovereign of the Road Airstream. It was roomy and had modern touches, with cupboards and dishwashers from IKEA. The Sovereign of the Road was developed primarily for people who lived in trailers for extended periods of time and yet relocated often. This being the case, it’s a rather large trailer and was very popular in its day. It was lighter than previous Airstreams of its size, making it one of the easiest large trailers to tow.
The Sovereign sleeps up to 3 Adults with 1 Queen Size Bed and 1 Sofa Sleeper. There was even a private bathroom with toilet. The Resort also has showers nearby if your trailer isn’t equipped with one. Their clubhouse features a pool, hot tub, laundry room, and fitness center!
Once we got settled in, TY and I made our own little dinner on the little grill that they supply with each trailer. She made us delicious steaks and a grilled Caesar salad. What a babe!
No birthday celebration is complete without bubbly. I brought some miniature bottles of Lamarca and stuck in pretty gold straws. We were really roughing it, as you can tell. ;-)
The resort offers plenty of add-on options to your reservation. I opted for the 'You Had Me at Pinot" special which included your choice of a bottle of Pinot Noir or Pinot Gris, tasting passes for two guests at two local wineries, a wine touring map, two signature Vintages wine glasses, and a Signature Vintages bottle opener. The rest of our evening was spent sipping wine, watching the sunset, and planning our route to the wineries the next day.
In the morning, TY totally MacGyvered a frying pan out of tin foil to cook eggs in. They got a little burnt because I distracted her to help me with the soon to be posted Pour over Coffee Tutorial Photoshoot.
Any how, the morning was lovely! There were birds chirping, the sun was out, and we couldn't have begun our day of wine tours any better. We got dressed and headed to Durant Vineyards. I'll have to come back with Jared for a romantic weekend getaway because OMG, the view here stunning! Check out this video to learn more about Durant Vineyards.
TY and I chilled at this winery for quite a while enjoying the delicious snacks. We'd recommend their 2015 Southview Pinot Gris. Aged in stainless steel, the tasting notes are tropical spicy pear and pineapple. It was fresh and effervescent.
Next up was Erath Winery! Their Pinot Noir is TY'S favorite wine but she had never been to their winery before. Neither had I, for that matter. Erath was charming but small, and it started getting crowded because it was Wine Weekend. We ended up going home with two bottles of their 2014 Willakia Vineyard Pinot Noir. But we couldn’t leave before we took a picture in the photobooth, setup specially for Memorial Day Weekend!
Next time, I want to stay the entire long weekend and tour a few more wineries. We couldn't believe how beautiful it was out there and we're bummed to have to leave. Still, it was such a fun way to share this lady's birthday with her! I couldn't be more grateful to have her as my friend and badass blogger/business partner. To many more years of WORKKPARTY!
